Inner Compass Collective Live Workshops
Positive Psychology 101
January 29th 4pm PT with Spencer Spellman
-
Reimagine your life this year through the lens of positive psychology. Positive Psychology isn’t just pop psychology or another TikTok wellness trend. Rather, it’s a scientific branch of psychology that studies human strengths, well-being, and what contributes to a flourishing life. While psychology has historically focused on diagnosis and addressing what’s going wrong, positive psychology focuses on what contributes to a more meaningful, resilient, and full life. If mental health is like a garden, positive psychology provides tools for tending it, supporting growth, and building resilience over time. This workshop will be an exploration of the history, foundations, and science of positive psychology. Participants will also engage in evidence-based positive psychology exercises and walk away with practices that they can apply to their daily lives.

A longtime travel writer and photographer, Spencer’s journeys around the world sparked a deeper inner exploration and an investigation into his family’s multigenerational history. That path led him back to school, where he earned a Master of Science in Positive Psychology from Arizona State University and graduated from Vanessa’s Inner Compass Academy as a certified depth psychology coach, alongside an undergraduate background in philosophy. Together, his education and experiences inform his work—grounded in psychological science—that challenges dominant cultural systems and norms, breaks cycles, and inspires more meaningful ways of living.
